De La Morpheus Soul: The 3 Pin Plug Edition (Pt. 2wo)

“Of course it's much greater than your Benz or your Lex /
The engine to my comprehension is just too complex. Much too complex... [Dave].

Pt. 2wo is hErE with even more dope music from the SOUL! Yes People...After the love I received for last weeks 'Part Won' tribute to the legendary 'De La Soul', I decided to unleash the second episode of my three pin trilogy in anticipation of their forthcoming, eighth studio album entitled 'You're Welcome'.

Classics, gems and rarities are all on the agenda as De La Soul remind us that hip-hop is their business and they love what they do. Vocal appearances this time come via Shortie No Mass, Guru R.I.P, Dres, Raheem DeVaughn, Q-Tip the beautiful voice of Miss Vinia Mojica. Production once again from the excellent Supa Dave West alongside LA Jay, GE-OLOGY, Spearhead X, Young RJ, and producer extraordinaire DJ Prince Paul.

Tributes and features with Chi Ali, J. Period, Mr. Complex, Gummy Soul & Camp Lo.

A Morpheus Soul Pod-Cast {27th Apr '13}

I speak for the hardcore (ruff, rugged and raw) / I'm outta here, catch me chillin on my next tour /
From the US to the white cliffs of Dover / Strictly underground funk, keep the crossover.
[Parrish 'PMD' Smith].

This pod-cast is dedicated to an elite squad of emcees and beat makers who never made you question hip-hop in the 1990's. I've been meaning to put this selection together for a long time now and it was so hard to compile, simply because, the amount of top notch beats & rhymes these particular artists turned out on a regular basis was second to none. I'm talking about the legendary rap kings EPMD aka Erick Sermon & Parrish Smith alongside fellow word-smiths Das EFX, Keith Murray, K-Solo and Redman, collectively known as The Hit Squad and Def Squad respectively. This has got to be volume one of (think of a number) as there were so many funked up bangers I wanted to include right here, so you can rest assure that part two will be hear in the very near future.

So all aboard the good ship once again, as your favourite artists, favourite pod-cast gets ready to set sail for another two hours plus of Morpheus Soul Dopeness, with a truck load of classic joints from EPMD & family & featuring guest appearances from LL Cool J, Too Short & Method Man.

Please Feel Free to Share & Spread The Joy.

A Morpheus Soul Pod-Cast {Cameo Special}

"Do Your Dance"

I've been f0nKing out all week to the sounds of the original New York City Players and East Coast Knights Of The Sound Table aka Larry Blackmon, Tomi Jenkins, Anthony Lockett, Aaron Mills, Charlie Singleton et al. Collectively known as the brilliant "Cameo".

One of my favourite groups growing up in the 80's, the forever changing line up has been keeping music lovers on their toes, releasing seventeen albums over four decades, and they ain't done yet soul people. Still touring the states and I'm very happy to say, live in London Town this month BABY! {Oct 22nd/23rd/24th/25th/26th} at the legendary Jazz Cafe. I remember purchasing my first Cameo 7" single "Back & Forth" from Woolworths with my pocket money and rinsing it to death on my aunts turntable. I later picked up the Word Up! album on cassette and shortly afterwards was diagnosed with funkinmebones syndrome.The Rest is History!!!

On this special tribute I go through a small selection of Cameo's back catalogue featuring music from 1977 to 1996 including "Back And Forth" and a host of classic funk soul jams. Also, In true Morpheus Soul fashion, I had to switch it up slightly and feature a beautiful version of the classic "Word Up" performed by Willis, plus; a special segment named "Sampling Larry" with three supa dope hip-hop joints produced by DJ Premier, 9th Wonder & Khrysis all sampling CAMEO records. The cherry on the cake is a DJ Cam song from 2002 remixed by J Dilla R.I.P, and featuring Larry Blackmon on vocals. It's time to raise the anchor once again and set sail on this special midweek excursion aboard the good-ship Morpheus. ENJOY!
